Tokyo
Nice place. Got in at 10am and hit the subways straight away. I think Em saved us here as I was in my normal post flight delusional haze. Heading through the outskirts of the city I was surprised to see so much vegetation and farm but the city slowly took over. Lots of strange buildings, like a couple 10 storeys tall but only about 3 meters wide. Tokyo looks a lot like it looks in all the video games and anime videos so I guess it was surprisingly familiar.
Made it to Asakusa after a couple of line changes then got pretty lost looking for the hostel. Luckily a guy on a bike and a girl helped us in the right direction. Got settled in at the Asakusa Youth Hostel and went looking for some lunch but ended up at a little roadside bar run by a flamboyant old jap guy. he was a classic. kept laughing at everything we were saying coz we were trying to order dinner at a bar. So we settled for a glass of beer, some spiced snow peas, some dried fish sticks and a fried sardine (!)
